RBW 2010: Space cowboys. 5th-7th November 2010. Canary Wharf, London UK

Events

“No need to look so surprised! Ya didn’t really think we’d make ya fly all the way out here without entertainment waiting, did ya? Hell, I dare say we got a damn fine line-up of things to keep y’all amused, even out here on the edge o’ space.”

Events will be announced over the next few months, but as a rough guide, we had over 40 events at RBW2009 and expect to have the same this year. If you're interested in holding a panel or any other kind of event – whether it be on art, fursuiting or anything you'd like to share – propose it!

Satellite Engineering Workshop - Tryst

Science fiction works regularly make use of various foibles such as sub-ether radio, inertial dampers and sound effects that can travel through a total vacuum. Whilst some of these things are totally beyond the realm of modern technology, others aren't so far fetched.

To demonstrate this, Tryst will be offering two groups the chance to build "cry-baby" signal decoy satellites, as used by the crew of Serenity, from common off the shelf components.

Through the course of the workshop, Tryst will also be teaching the basics of modern spacecraft design, propulsion, etc.

Some hands on electronics experience is desirable, but not necessary. This workshop is highly recommended for anyone involved in writing space-based science fiction.
