Meet the staff
“We've got a damn fine bunch up here already, but it turns out that puttin on a shindig like this requires some pretty specialised skills. So we roped in a few more fellas to help us out an' I'd like to introduce 'em to y'all.”
Tryst
Technical. Project Management. Accountancy. Domestic kitty. Super magic man.
After joining the London Furs way back in 2004, Tryst spent a couple of years helping to actively develop the group and was one of the first to promote the committee management concept. After stepping back from the LFM, Tryst has concentrated his efforts on RBW since 2007.
Trained and employed as an electronic engineer, Tryst has an intensely technical and administrative background. Engineering encompasses a broad range of management and administrative skills that he uses to help ensure the smooth running of RBW.
In addition to this, Tryst has been actively involved in a wide variety of live events starring acts such as Goldie Looking Chain, Reuben, Venga Boys, Karl Kennedy Band, Bodger and Badger and numerous others. The experience he gained through these events he has directly applied to the many events he has helped to deliver to the LondonFurs; you may well have seen him on many an occasion lugging speakers and other AV kit around!
Miyabi
Branding and design, on-site live snowleopard.
Miyabi is a pretentious designer with over 6 years of professional experience and, having cut his teeth at the likes of Abbey Road Interactive and Intel, he now works for a small post-production company where he gets to design pretty things and play with cameras. Miyabi also works with Bariki on the LondonFurs committee.
Having been a member of staff since 2008, Miyabi has been responsible for the overall 'brand' of the convention since 2009, his influence extending from the website to t-shirts to badges to conbook. With a passionate interest in music, and being no stranger to the decks, he'll be keeping us afloat with borderworld beats and spacey bleeps on RBW's legendary boat party.
Kittiah
Digital Entertainment. P.R guy. Video-game addict.
After volunteering at RBW 2007, this blonde-haired house-cat was originally just supposed to be one of the DJs for RBW 2008, eventually ending up as Digital Entertainment Manager for the convention. He'll be overseeing the planning and running of the highly successful gaming room this year, alongside scheduling the musical entertainment and DJing the boat party with his good friend Miyabi.
Outside RBW, Kittiah vents his passion for music by being one half of the popular HardDrive.fm net radio show. In his professional life, this feline is a Technical Liaison for a major international music company, dealing with high-profile project & relationship management, not to mention all the day to day technical tomfoolery.
Graafen
Head of Con-Ops. Lycanthropically challenged.
With four years in the convention operations saddle at RBW and three for ConFuzzled, Graafen is returning to make sure that everything runs smoothly. You'll be most likely to find him at the ConOps desk in the Dealers' Den looking all efficient.
Before joining RBW, Graafen was a member of the Army Cadet Force wherein he spent two years as a Lance Corporal which helped him mould the organisation and management skills that make him such a ruthless, efficient and yet obviously lovely operations manager.
Bariki
Master of Ceremonies. Token equine compere.
Former Royal Navy, Bariki's excellent elocution and enthusiastic demeanour make him an ideal master of ceremonies and auctioneer. When he's not at RBW encouraging you to part with your money in aid of charity, he's helping to run the regular LondonFur meets as a member of the group's committee.
Beyond the UK, Bariki is directly involved with Eurofurence where he is part of the team behind "The Daily Eurofurence", which is an English-language newspaper that debuted at EF15 last year to a very warm reception from all present!
Outside of furry, Bariki runs a successful IT consultancy in Hertfordshire and is currently studying towards a master's engineering degree in computer science.
Russet
Events Co-Ordinating Skunk. Head of Flower Arranging.
Russet is a Library Assistant working at a Central London medical Library. He has over 8 years experience managing time-tables, book catalogues and operating in a working environment where organisation is essential. He will be once again working his magic as our Events Co-ordinator after doing such a magnificent job of it last year.
Russet's spent a lot of time and effort discussing needs, juggling the event schedule, managing equipment requirements, making sure that everyone gets what they want at the right time and with no major clashes. With this in mind, don't blame him if he looks a tiny bit stressed now and then!
Codewolf
Head of Security. Best dressed male.
Level headed and experienced SiA approved doorman Codewolf is heading up the security and safety arrangements at RBW 2009. You'll most likely see him wandering around the convention, looking sharp yet approachable.
Day to day, Code' is studying towards a BSc Computer Science degree at Hertfordshire University and making ends meet as a licensed doorman in and around Hertfordshire.
Makali
Convention support software and web site. Symfony sensei and curator of all magic on the internet.
Makali's a senior developer at a little-known soho media agency, with over 14 years experience in coding, user-interface design and information architecture for clients such as Reuters, American Express, Nokia, BBC, Sky, Sony, The National Gallery, and Channel 4. Several of his projects have gone on to win a variety of pointless self-congratulatory awards.
A veteran LondonFur, he ran the LondonFur meets, site and mailing list during its tumultuous youth in the early 2000s. Then as the community grew from about a dozen to over 300, he created and managed the thriving UKFur.org forum community.
